A few posts ago I mentioned that Wilbur has started Ju Jitsu classes. Tonight Lunchbox joined him in class and instantly fell in love. Coach Mike starts class out by teaching the class a move, and then works with each boy until they get the concept. Following the instruction he has the class try the moves out on each other. Well wouldn't you know it Lunchbox and Wilbur get paired up to spar. The move tonight was a grasp and throw. Once someone lands on the ground the partner is supposed to pin the opponent to the mat.
So it is 7:00pm and class is over. I go into the dojo to get the wanna be ninjas and Sambo runs over with his sad face. For those of you who know Sambo aka Lunchbox, his facial expression tells everything. I asked him what was wrong and before he could answer, Wilbur proudly screamed "I befeated him". When I asked them what that meant Sambo admitted that Wilbur got him in a grasp, put him on the mat, and wouldn't let him up. Wilbur is so scrawny and Sambo is a brick, so it goes to show that technique beats strength any day. On the way home Sam said he couldn't wait until next week to learn a move to befeat Will. As Coach Mike says "I am a Champion and I will never give up!"
