Cheer Comps x 3

I had SO MUCH fun going to Millie's cheer competitions!  It brought back so many memories and it was funny to see that not much has changed.  Other than 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders are totally stunting and we didn't stunt until Sophmore year.  We used to think we were so tough and cool when could stunt and now to think that 10 year olds are doing it!  Wow.

There were 3 comps - 3 Saturdays in a row in November.  They competed against squads that feed into local high schools in Utah Valley, including another Lone Peak squad.  Honestly, the week before their first competition the girls weren't ready. Krisha got injured at tumbling, Mckayla got injured in an accident on a Ranger so they had to reorganize their stunt groups and formations.  Also they weren't taking it very seriously...teenage girls tend to talk and goof off a lot at practice and it was starting to show.  They really had to get serious and work hard with extra practices so that they would be ready.

Well, it paid off!  They did great!  They won 2nd place at Lehi, 1st place at American Fork, and 2nd at Lone Peak.  The teams they lost to were fantastic - the competition was tough!  The girls were happy and proud of how they did...and so were we!  I was especially proud of how well Millie has picked up on cheer.  She was the rookie of the squad and you would never guess it.  And as little as she is, she is a strong base!  She is a bit nervous to be a flyer - and I can't say I am sad about that ;)
Way to go Millie!

Gimme a K!

Millie and cousin Connor
Another fun day on the field.  Grandma Cindy and Grandma Sue and Grandpa John came to cheer on Connor and Millie.  Best fans ever!

Millie in action on the field and sidelines at PG High School.  How fun that they get to cheer for the boys their age.  And even better, their team is really good! Even though they are only in 8th grade...they do a pretty good job!  Way better than we were as 9th graders!

#63 - AO - he might be significant in someone's life right now ;)
And is that #63 on the right?  I don't mean to embarrass anyone but somebody may or may not really like him

JJ, Mckayla {got injured in a mishap with a quad Razor, Collin

After the games we went back home and started on chores.  But soon when we looked out our back window we saw a big group of Millie's guy friends.  We have this awesome grass hill behind our house and they were sliding down a giant wet tarp for Noah's birthday party!  It was pretty brave of Millie to walk out there and say hello....being the only girl.
Lately she seems to be liking boys more :)

3 Cheers for Football!

Well, Fall is here and football season has started!
So that means 3 football games every Saturday!  And sometimes 1 more game on Tuesday nights!
Sam and Will wanted to play again this year which is always so fun and so much work at the same time.  And Millie cheered for the 8th grade teams (3 of them) and rotated between them.

Here is the first Saturday:

We kind-of freaked when we first saw Millie in her cheer uniform.  She looked TOO CUTE!
As a parent that is a good thing and a scary thing!  I enjoy watching her cheer and perform and it is bringing back so many memories!  I must say they are quite good for 8th graders!

This year, Sambo chose to play for the B team instead of going to try-outs for the A team.  His baseball coach, Buck Mendenhall was going to be coaching the B team.  But, there were enough boys to make 2 B teams and Sam was put on the other B team with a coach we didn't know and a bunch of boys we didn't know.  At first we were disappointed.  But after the first practice with his new coach, Dallin Rogers, he was SO EXCITED!  He absolutely loves his coach this year and I am so grateful to him for being someone Sambo admires and looks up to.  He is teaching him hard work, dedication, team work, safety, and that life isn't just about football :)  He has met some really good friends as well.
Sam is playing running back and middle line backer and he is doing AWESOME! His coach told us he is the rock star of the team :)

Dallin, former Utah Ute tight end.  He's cute and buff too :)
Here is Sam after his first football game.  He is so happy because he scored 2 touchdowns as the running back!

I love this picture of the boys after their games...going over all of the details

This year there were also changes with the 4th grade teams because there were so many boys that signed up.  They divided the teams into Elementary school boundaries so Will's champion team that BS has been coaching got split...80/20...Will being on the 20 side.  So again, we were disappointed at first. But it is also turning out well even though BS could only be assistant coach instead of head coach {so busy with Aerie}. Will plays center and defensive end.

Just a week or two before baby Nixon was born
I love watching the boys play, Millie cheer, and BS coach in action!
I look forward to a fun season!  And Millie's cheer competitions as well!
