Q is 2

Quincy turned 2 today! Even though I am completely LOVING this fun stage, I am feeling a bit sad that time is ticking soooo fast. Can I freeze her please?
Because we love her soooo much, we (her family) are loving on her all day, every day! This kid can't even get a break from our constant kissing her, hugging her, nibbling her cheeks & tummy, holding her, teasing her, singing to her, etc.
SO...
for her birthday and because we love her so much we are giving her a rest from our constant doting. We are giving her a break away from us! :)
She will be in the loving care of her Aunt Heidi and Grandma for a whole week while the rest of us take a little trip (to Disneyland and Legoland). Not an easy choice. Not easy at all. I've been stewing about it for months. But this morning when she woke up and asked for "Bode" (her cousin) I knew what we needed to do....let her play with Bode!
Happy Birthday sweetie. We love you more than you can know.

Ninja Fight Club

It is that time of year when the kids get to decide the 2 activities they are going to do over the spring/summer. Millie of course chose dance and tumbling. Sambo loves tumbling and has yet to decide between lacrosse/karate. Wilbur wants to go to ninja school and to watch spongebob.

Since 2 little boys=constant wrestling and fighting, we decided to take Will to a trial of "ninja school" aka jujitsu class. We felt as long as he is constantly wrestling his big brother that he might as well learn discipline and technique. I must say it was a blast watching him. He honestly felt that he had stumbled into heaven. Master Mike would demonstrate the moves on his assistant and then the boys would take turns practicing on each other. At the end of the first class Will told me he had a great time and couldn't wait to be a master ninja. When we got home Will showed Sambo what he had learned and Sambo declared on the spot he wanted to take ninja with Will. Here are a few pics from Wilbur's big night.

Cold Stone

We're not talking ice cream. We're talking about what Quincy had tonight at Chuck-E-Cheese (we celebrated her birthday). She's been fighting a cold the last couple days and has a pretty bad cough so we gave her some medicine before we left home...
She spent the next 2 hours completely stoned. For the 1st time in her life, I could not get her to crack even the slightest grin. I couldn't even get her to make eye contact. She just stared...off into space. What 2 year old doesn't glee with excitement at her own party, filled with family, presents, cake, and Chuck E Cheese?
Oh well, I'll take stoned over sad or whiny. At least she didn't cry. We all had fun despite her melancholy.
Thanks "Grandpa Judy" for dinner and to all the fam for being there! We can't believe our baby is going to be 2 (on Thursday)! Hopefully she will be feeling better on her actual birthday.

Oh, and I did capture one quick grin at the end!

Single Mom part deux

Let's chalk up one more unfortunate event to add to the list (from yesterday's post):

-This morning I got all the kids in the car, rushing to pick-up carpool and make it to the bus stop. BUT, the car wouldn't start! It would not start!

-Of all days, it chose today to have fuel injector issues.

-So now the kids and I can't even make it to the airport to pick-up Sam. We can't take the other car because we don't fit. How sad is that.

Single Mom

Over the years of our marriage, there have been times when either Sam or I have left town alone (either for work or play) leaving the other spouse solo in their duties as the caretaker and homemaker. Sam will agree, that just about EVERY single time one of us is gone (which is mostly Sam), something unfortunate or weird happens back at home. I'm such a believer in Murphy's Law. These type of things don't happen unless one of us is alone. Why is that?

Sam has been gone 3 out of the last 4 weeks. First to Florida, and then to Minnesota. I am grateful and happy about his new employment, and my point is not to gripe, but I am soooooo ready for him to come home! And it's not just because I miss him (and miss his help), it's also because then I know crappy stuff will stop happening to me!
I'm not going to go into detail of every little event of the past couple weeks. But to name a few:

-4 out of 4 kids getting stomach flu. Yes, puke and diarrhea. Do you think any of them made it to the toilet? Or even on the tile or wood floor? Nope. Every single time it was on the carpet! One time even the whole flight of stairs! And did it ever happen in the daytime? Nope. Always in the middle of the night. And they weren't even sick at the same time. First Will, then I sanitized. Then Millie, sanitized again. Then Sambo, and his was the worst of all. I will never look at ham the same! Yesterday I washed every sheet, towell, and rag in the house and santizied everything! I am offiicially a professional carpet cleaner! So they missed some school days. I brought this on myself because I was just telling someone a few weeks ago about how my kids hardly ever get sick and if they do, they seldom throw-up.

-The house alarm went off at 3:00 in the morning. It went off just about an hour after I got done scrubbing carpet and finally got to bed. My heart has never jumped so far. It's a long story, but basically it was alerting because the outlet that it was plugged into needed to be reset and it had finally ran-out of charge. I discovered this after digging through my freezing storage room, pulling many huge storage bins off the shelves to find the blasted outlet! I only knew to do this because I had to call Sam at his hotel and asking him how the he** to shut it off. The whole while, the alarm is alerting loudly, waking up all the kids. The rest of the night was spent with 3 little ones sharing my bed.

-Okay I'm getting sick of thinking and typing right now. I had such intentions of journaling some more of my adventures as a single mom. They mostly have to do with bad luck and sleep deprivation. But I'll have to tell it another day.
I. am. tired.

-One more thing: I totally repect single parents.

-Sam returns home to us tomorrow, yay! I do have to say that I handled things quite nicely; I feel like Super Mom! Even Daisy and Shortleg (our pets) are alive! For the most part, the kids were great. I'm grateful to have such happy good kids. I bonded with them even more because I didn't have to share them with Sam. Everyone got to where they needed to be, and even on time. We had fun, the 5 of us, cruising around in our new "sports car!"

I was dreading him leaving town but it wasn't too bad. I'm proud of myself that I made it through and I'm feeling pretty darn good (and tired). Somebody from above is helping me :)

-Sam, I miss you.
