We heart City Creek

A few weeks ago the much anticipated City Creek shopping center opened downtown.  I personally have been waiting and looking forward to this for a long time.  I grew up going shopping downtown and some of my best memories involve going to Crossroads (the old downtown shopping center).  I loved that place and I was very sad when it closed down 7 or 8 years ago for renovation.
But.
But now it is open and it is incredible!
On opening day I took Millie and two of her friends to check it out.  We left at 3:00 and didn't get home until 10:00!  We parked and rode Trax because I wasn't sure how the parking was and I knew it would be busy.  They couldn't have picked a more perfect day for opening because the weather was perfect!  It was on March 22nd and it was warm and sunny - so warm that the roof was off!
We hadn't been there ten minutes when we were stopped by a familiar face...Nadine Wimmer who is a news anchor for KSL.  She told the girls she wanted them to be on the news.  She said to come back and meet her at 6:00 with their purchases if they had any.  They were so stoked!
Millie got some sassy red shoes that she wanted to show.  Her friends got some shoes too and jewelry.  They were super excited to be on TV.
Some of their favorite stores were Lush, H&M, 77kids, Vans, Forever 21, & Disney Store.  Here, they are trying on cute rompers at H&M which they bought for 9 bucks for swimsuit cover-ups.

St Patrick's Day & March Birthdays

This year St. Patrick's Day was on a Saturday and we had already celebrated Will's birthday, so it didn't seem to be quite as exciting.  But we did manage to have a heck of a day!  We woke up to gold chocolate coins scattered all through the house!  But, no leprecauns were caught in Will's traps, they are so sneaky!  For breakfast we ate a fruit rainbow with a pot of gold (bananas).  Also Lucky Charms with green milk.

Then, after doing some chores around the house we went to Grandma's to celebrate the holiday and the March birthdays.  Grandpa, Aunt Heidi, Bode, & Will all have birthdays in March (also Grandpa Judy).  After playing around outside we feasted on burgers and hot dogs with green jello, green pickles, and green grapes.

Then we ate green lemon cake and green ice cream and opened birthday presents.  Quincy got to be included too because she is the only February birthday.

Grandpa gave the boys some wooden rubber band guns.  Um, thanks?

The week before, we went to Bode's friend party at Kangaroo Zoo in Ogden.  It was awesome!

I love this birthday boy so much!

Beginner's Luck

Last night was the big Pinewood Derby for Cub Scouts. Will just turned 8 so now we have two little Scouters, which is great...but it also means two derby cars and double the achievements to pass-off.  The boys got a good head start on their cars with Dad's help and they made their own paint designs.
You never know how well their car is going to do and it's always a little nerve racking because you don't want your son to feel let down.
Turns out - Will had the fastest pinewood derby car this year!  He won 1st place!
He was so stoked and it was so great to see him so happy!
BS was super surprised at his own car building skills :)

Before the Derby started Will was initiated into the Wolf Pack with the traditional pinning (upside-down) and face painting:

At one point in the derby both Will and Sambo were racing against each other and I was a bit torn and worried about one of them losing to the other.  Sambo's car did well but nearly as fast as his little brother's.  I could tell he was a little disappointed and jealous but he took it like a man.

Our little Wolf and our little Webelo:

 What a fun night!!!

...Until Will accidentally dropped his trophy and car in the church parking lot and they broke.  He was trying to carry too much stuff including a bag of popcorn and a cupcake.   He had a total meltdown!  So sad!  Good thing for hot glue...we got them patched up and good as new.  He has them proudly showcased on his dresser in his room.  Good job great man!

Our Half-Leprecaun turns 8!

The people closest to Will knows that he is half-leprecaun.  Remember his money party?  Yes, he is still like Mr. Krabs.  And, he had a birthday!

This year he decided to have his party at Planet Play, a super fun place in Draper.  There is a pizza/pasta/salad bar/ice cream/slushy/drinks buffet, plus every indoor activity and game you can think of for kids.  Even better, we found a great deal on City Deals and bought 12 passes for Will and his invitees.

This was a super easy party...all we did was make the invitations, make a cake, make some favors, and show up.  The rest was easy.  This was a perfect place for his party and we all had the best time!  The only problem was that 2 hours was not enough.  It was extremely difficult to round up all of the boys for presents and cake.  They were all spread out and wanted more play time.

Go Carts!!!
I asked Will what kind of cake he wanted me to make and he said a "Peanut Butter Cup cake."  I wasn't quite sure what he had in mind, but thanks to Pinterest I found a yummy recipe that is definitely a keeper!  LOVE the mini Reese's cups.  The red and white PB M&Ms are supposed to be a 8.

Only 6 candles...oops. oh well
I love how he gave each friend a hug after he opened their gift.  So sweet
12 crazy boys!
We are very lucky that Will has so many good little buddies in our neighborhood, such darling boys!  And Will is feeling very lucky that he not only got some cool gifts, but he also received some cool cash!
