Renaissance Fair

The past several weeks have been more busy than usual, thanks mostly to Millie's Renaissance Fair at school.  This puppy is a big deal!  I can't believe how much time and effort goes into this {not to mention money}.  In the weeks leading up to the big event, the 6th graders work on several projects both at home and at school.  Each project is worth a different amount of points and to get an "A" they have to total 400 points.
On top of that they make a booth, make/buy the stuff to sell from the booth, and find a costume to wear while they are selling stuff from their booth.  Holy cow.  Even with Mills doing her best to get everything completed on time, she still needed guidance, supplies, and some help.  I found myself cursing the whole thing, but then I went to the Renaissance Fair on the big day and I took it all back.  The gym was made into a very impressive medieval town with banners hanging from the ceiling and booths lined up along the walls, theme music playing, and Knights, Princes, Princesses, Jesters, Kings, Queens, and Peasants walking around.  So fun!
Millie decided to dress-up as a Jester, she looked fantastic!
Here she is in her booth called "The Poison Apple" and spraying "Fairy Dust" in somebody's hair:

The products they sold included:
Gnome Spit (Root Beer), Fairy Dust (Colored glitter hair spray), Dragon Scales (shiny gems), King's Treat (popcorn), Poison Apples (Caramel Apple suckers), Dragon Tongues (rolled up rainbow sour fruit rolls), Unicorn Tears (Bobas), Turkey Legs (Drumstick ice cream), Book Eating Dragon (corner bookmarks), Rainbow Wands
So creative!

Here are some pictures of her friend's booth (look at that dragon!) and some of Millie's projects: a Henin, Coat of Arms, and model of a castle made out of cake.
