After 6 years of dedicated dance, the last question I thought Millie would ask me was, "Hey Mom, can I try-out for soccer?" This was the case last Spring, and I told her that I would support her in whatever she wanted to try. She tried-out and made a place on a middle competitive team and plays for the Jaguars in the North Utah County Soccer League.
This was a new team put together by their coach Aaron, so it took a lot of practice and learning, especially on Millie's part because she had never really played before {other than recreation soccer when she was 5). She worked hard, ran hard, and did her best to overcome her fear of getting hit with the ball or getting hurt by another player. She isn't the most aggressive, but she is fast when she wants to be!
Saturdays the last few months have been absolutely nuts! Millie had soccer games and both the boys had football games. All three games were of course at 3 different field locations throughout North Utah County. Coach Sam had to be to all of Will's games {and had to be there an hour+ early}, so that meant I usually went to Millie and Sambo's games. On any given Saturday Quincy and I {and sometimes Chops} were wearing fan gear, setting up camping chairs, sitting on the sidelines, cheering the team, packing up the chairs again, and off to the next game! Whew!
We love when family members come to cheer them on with us!
Her team won 2 games and tied 2 games. They are planning on playing in a tournament over Thanksgiving but after that she will have a break until Spring when it starts up again. It has been a delight to watch her learn, grow, and play soccer! Good job Millie!

Dad made it to this game and as always he is giving some pointers. He wishes he could coach her team too. |
Not only has she had fun playing soccer, but she has made so many great friends on the team. These girls are positive, friendly, and so much fun!
See you next Spring!
Go Jaguars!
