Super League baseball: Monday Night Lights

The boys are back for another baseball season!
I have mentioned this before but I love watching them play baseball more than all of the other sports. Each Spring I am always so happy when they decide they want to play because I love going to their games and chatting with my friends in the {mostly} warm weather. This year they both wanted to do the super league again. They have games every Monday night in Orem. Sambo played for the Diamondbacks and Wilbur played for the Generals. This league is very competitive so their teams have many learning and growth opportunities. Sam's team won more games this year, while Will's team didn't win any - mostly because it was a new team. But they both improved and had a good time playing the sport they love with their buddies.  Good job guys!

Basketball Champs!

Coach Travis, Ace, Mason, Will, Michael, Maddux, Everett, Matt, Isaac, Trey

Will had an awesome basketball season!  Not only did his team win the championship, but the entire team was full of his best buddies!  These games were so fun to watch!  Will turned a corner this year and figured out how to be aggressive.  He scored at least one basket every game, but his strength is definitely getting rebounds!  Towards the end of the season he was getting lots of fouls after his Dad would remind him that he could get 5 before he had to sit out.  He fouled out at one game. He came a long way since at the beginning of the season he would barely touch a player from the other team and you would hear him say, "oh, sorry."

Jake and Ashlee brought their kids to watch his last game in Springville, we love to see cousins and appreciate them coming to cheer him on!

And we couldn't resist a visit to Aunt Jenny's on the way home to snuggle with Nixon!
Jenny just had surgery to have her appendix removed.

Sambo the Rambo

Sambo had a fantastic football season!  He played with a new team and a new coach and it sparked something inside him!  He was able to play the positions he wanted and turned out to be one of the best players on the team.  As his Coach put it, "he is the rock of our team."
He scored many touchdowns and it was so fun to watch him play and be so happy!
He made new friendships with team mates and he will forever admire coach Rogers.  He taught him so much and pushed him to do his best.  We are so proud of Sambo and his hard work.  Such a good kid!

Quincy was a trooper.  Every Saturday for 2 months she had to go to 2 or 3 games, between the 2 boys and Millie. First it was hot, then it was cold. But she found creative ways to entertain herself. And the iPad and snack shack is a complete life saver!  Here, she is keeping the sun out of her face while she plays a video game.

They ended the season with 5 wins and 3 losses. They made it to the championship tournament but lost the first play-off game.  Even though he was disapointed that they didn't make it further, he {and we} couldn't be more happy about how he played and the positive experience he had.

Wilbur the Wonderful

Will had a wonderful football season!
Because of the new Elementary school boundaries, he also played on a new team.  But luckily there were a handful of the same friends that were on his team last year.  BS was an assistant coach and loved every minute of it!  He enjoyed coaching with his friends.  I loved hearing him tell me all about how awesome Will did at practice and all of his funny mannerisms and all of the funny things Will says.
He played "center" and did not have one fumbled snap which is amazing!
He also played outside linebacker on defense and did a great job keeping the ball on the inside.

Despite his lack of love for of running, he was a trooper and went to every practice without too much complaining.  In his perfect world, he would play in games and see his friends everyday...but not have practice :)  They finished the season with 6 wins and 2 losses.  They made it to the second round in the championships and we were so proud of them!

Double Victory

The boys after their first wins
Warning: There is going to be A LOT of pictures and talking about football games, because for 2 months we spent every Saturday at 3 games - Sam, Will, and Mille's {cheer}.

This particular Saturday in September was a winner all around.  Both the boys' team's won their games and it was beautiful weather. We really love to watch them play and be outside with our friends as well!

Mom is their biggest fan

3 Cheers for Football!

Well, Fall is here and football season has started!
So that means 3 football games every Saturday!  And sometimes 1 more game on Tuesday nights!
Sam and Will wanted to play again this year which is always so fun and so much work at the same time.  And Millie cheered for the 8th grade teams (3 of them) and rotated between them.

Here is the first Saturday:

We kind-of freaked when we first saw Millie in her cheer uniform.  She looked TOO CUTE!
As a parent that is a good thing and a scary thing!  I enjoy watching her cheer and perform and it is bringing back so many memories!  I must say they are quite good for 8th graders!

This year, Sambo chose to play for the B team instead of going to try-outs for the A team.  His baseball coach, Buck Mendenhall was going to be coaching the B team.  But, there were enough boys to make 2 B teams and Sam was put on the other B team with a coach we didn't know and a bunch of boys we didn't know.  At first we were disappointed.  But after the first practice with his new coach, Dallin Rogers, he was SO EXCITED!  He absolutely loves his coach this year and I am so grateful to him for being someone Sambo admires and looks up to.  He is teaching him hard work, dedication, team work, safety, and that life isn't just about football :)  He has met some really good friends as well.
Sam is playing running back and middle line backer and he is doing AWESOME! His coach told us he is the rock star of the team :)

Dallin, former Utah Ute tight end.  He's cute and buff too :)
Here is Sam after his first football game.  He is so happy because he scored 2 touchdowns as the running back!

I love this picture of the boys after their games...going over all of the details

This year there were also changes with the 4th grade teams because there were so many boys that signed up.  They divided the teams into Elementary school boundaries so Will's champion team that BS has been coaching got split...80/20...Will being on the 20 side.  So again, we were disappointed at first. But it is also turning out well even though BS could only be assistant coach instead of head coach {so busy with Aerie}. Will plays center and defensive end.

Just a week or two before baby Nixon was born
I love watching the boys play, Millie cheer, and BS coach in action!
I look forward to a fun season!  And Millie's cheer competitions as well!
